What are these numbers?
In the IQ Home wireless mesh network based on IQ Home Modbus Master devices follows the request/response pattern based on the master/slave protocol of Modbus. The gateway working as a Modbus master device initiates the requests. The request message forwarded by the other devices repeating until the recipient receive the message. In the mesh networks the message repeating mechanism called as a hop and the distance from the gateway measured in number of hops. The number of hops or the response time depends on the size of the network.
The network can handle only one request in the same time. This means the gateway waiting to send the next request until the last response received. This process increasing the response time and ensures a reliable wireless communication.
The Modbus Response Time Calculator determines the response times as a main metrics of IQ Home Modbus Master wireless network:
- Response From Nearest Device:
- Response time from the closest device to the gateway. The minimum number of hops.
- Response From Farthest Device:
- Response time from the farthest device from the gateway. The maximum number of hops.
- Response From All Devices:
- Duration of all devices requested after each other
- Broadcast Duration:
- Duration while all device receives the broadcast message without response from any devices
